Level Up Your Riding: Deckadence City Skate Camp (Intermediate)

Join the area’s only Certified Skateboard Instructor, “D’Beau” Darin Black, for this 5-day technical intensive. This Intermediate Progression camp is built for riders who have already mastered the “Core Six” fundamentals. Furthermore, it is designed for those who are ready to transition into performance-based skateboarding.

To maintain a high-intensity environment, entry requires a pre-screening ‘Meet & Greet’ evaluation. Specifically, riders must demonstrate proficiency in the ‘Core Six’ (Push, Coast, Carve, Stop, Tic-Tac, and Kickturn) before enrolling. Please call or text the shop at 208-220-6750 to schedule your 5-minute evaluation.

At Optimist Skatepark, we move beyond basic rolling to focus on intentional execution. Specifically, this session bridges the gap between the sidewalk and the park through individualized guidance and focused breakout groups.

  • Is this camp right for me? If you CANNOT push, coast, carve, stop, tic-tac, and kick-turn comfortably, please join our Beginner Session instead.

The Intermediate Performance Matrix

Our curriculum follows a proprietary technical syllabus designed to sharpen mechanics and “Fine-Tune” your ride. Consequently, we focus on four distinct pillars of progression:

  • Advanced Force Management: First, we master the art of maintaining momentum. This includes specific drills for pumping transitions. Additionally, we work on multi-directional kickturns on ramps to unlock fluid park flow.

  • Technical Balance & Pop: Next, we push the limits of board control through a series of “Level Up” challenges. We focus on manual distance tests and static balance points. Similarly, we use vertical clearance drills to increase technical precision.

  • Transition & Feature Foundations: Furthermore, students are introduced to the mechanics of stalls and park features. We focus on the “Skeletal Alignment” required to navigate low-level transitions and curbs with precision.

  • Safety & Recovery Architecture: Finally, to narrow the margin of error at higher speeds, we focus on advanced “Step-Off” and recovery drills. These build the instinctual muscle memory required for high-velocity riding.

The Mental Leap: Speed & Commitment

The biggest hurdle at this level is the mental shift required for park navigation. Therefore, we coach the focus and resilience needed to handle more aggressive terrain. By breaking the group into smaller drill teams, we provide the individualized feedback necessary to help each rider overcome their specific plateaus.

Entry Requirements: The “Meet & Greet”

To maintain a high-intensity environment, entry requires one of the following:

  1. Successful completion of a previous Deckadence Beginner camp.

  2. A pre-screening “Meet & Greet” evaluation at Deckadence Board Shoppe.

Please call the shop to schedule your 5-minute evaluation. Riders must demonstrate proficiency in pushing, carving, and stopping before enrolling.
